These calculators help you plan flooring and tile projects, from new plank floors and carpet to tiled bathrooms, showers and backsplashes, plus the grout, thinset and epoxy that go with them.
Flooring and tile calculators
- Flooring calculator: boxes of LVP, laminate or hardwood, or square yards of carpet, for one room or several, with underlayment, trim and an optional cost.
- Tile calculator: tiles and boxes for a floor, a wall, a backsplash or a shower, for any tile size, grout joint and layout.
Grout, thinset and coatings
- Grout calculator: pounds and bags of grout from the tile size and joint, plus thinset bags for the right trowel.
- Epoxy calculator: resin and hardener for tabletops, river tables and art pours, or gallons to coat a garage floor.
Which calculator should I use?

Before you start
- Measure each room wall to wall at its widest points, and include closets and the space under appliances that will be covered.
- Split L-shaped rooms into rectangles and add them up.
- Check the coverage printed on the box or bag. Products of the same type can cover very different amounts.
- Buy all boxes from the same lot number, so the color and shade match.
- Keep a spare box after the job for repairs later.
Every result is an estimate for planning. See How We Calculate for the formulas and values we use.
